1950s scratch built factory work bench.

We salvaged this from a renowned British sock factory. Originally this bench was used for a machine which knitted socks, the operative would sit on a similar stool in front of the bench. Nowadays these beautifully made benches can be used as stands to display pots or plants or as small hallway tables in the home.

These benches are scratch made on site from elm. As in most factory's the factory handy man / caretaker would just make work benches or stools as needed from resources that he had to hand. Usually made simply but to a high standard & made to last.

Completely cleaned & waxed made ready for home or office use.

Height 73cm, Width 52cm, Depth 44cm.
