Large circa 1960s industrial foundry mold used in the production of machine parts via metal casting.
Made from wood this mold would be pressed into sand to form a negative space, into which molten metal would be poured to create the machine part.
These molds were acquired from Webster & Horsfall a 300 year old factory ( still running to this day ) in Birmingham renowned for producing steel cable. They produced some of the strongest cable in the world, so strong that they laid the Transatlantic telegraph cable across the Atlantic enabling communication from the UK to the US.
Condition is good for its age, ( please see pictures ).
